Community Manager – Reddit Specialist

About the Role
The Community Manager – Reddit Specialist will lead Global University Systems’ approach to Reddit as both a brand reputation and awareness marketing channel. This person will be responsible for tracking and shaping our institution’s voices and visibility on Reddit, including managing community engagement within subreddits, and collaboration with the paid social team for advertising.
This role requires a balance of strategic planning, PR and reputation management skill, and analytical rigor—combining platform specific community understanding with data driven insights.
Key Responsibilities
Planning and Execution
Develop and execute GUS brand’s Reddit presence across organic engagement, subreddit participation, and advising the paid social team on opportunities for advertising.
Monitor and manage brand reputation across Reddit communities related to higher education, careers, and individual institutions.
Work with brand teams to ensure cohesive tone of voice, engagement guidelines, and escalation procedures for Reddit interactions.
Collaborate with Communications, Brand, and PR teams to maintain consistent messaging and brand integrity.
Community and Organic Engagement
Proactively join discussions relevant to education, careers, and GUS institutions to shape sentiment and share accurate information.
Identify and respond to community trends, misinformation, and key topics affecting brand perception.
Create a playbook for each brand to ensure any issues are handled swiftly and consistently.
Build relationships with Reddit moderators and community leaders to encourage informed discussion.
Develop Reddit-native content initiatives such as AMAs, topical threads, and Q&A formats.
Monitoring and Analytics
Track and report on sentiment, brand mentions, and competitor activity through Reddit analytics.
Generate monthly insights reports that highlight key themes, risks, and opportunities.
Use analytics to refine audience targeting, messaging, and community engagement priorities.

Skills and Experience
Required
At least 4 years social media experience, including direct Reddit management.
Deep understanding of Reddit culture, community behavior, and moderation policies.
Strong writing skills with sensitivity to tone and context when engaging in public forums.
Experience with analytics and community management tools such as Google Analytics and SEMRush.
Preferred
Background in higher education, reputation management, or consumer sectors with complex brand perception challenges.
Experience managing multi-brand portfolios or international campaigns.
Skill in using analytics and analysis software.
